Yukake Matsuri (Last Sat of May)

The origins of the “Yukake Festival” date back to the Edo period. It is said to have begun with an ancient custom of filling barrels with hot spring water—known for its potent healing properties—and presenting them to feudal lords and imperial villas.
This spectacular festival features 1,000 barrels and approximately 5,000 tubs filled with hot spring water lined up along the parade route, from which some 60 tons of water are vigorously poured over the portable shrine.

Fireflies Festival

May 29 (Fri) – June 7 (Sun), 2026at Manyo Park

Fireflies dance along the water’s edge at Manyo Park.
Please enjoy this magical moment as the fireflies flit among the trees in the darkness.
The Tanifuku Shrine located within the park is also known as a shrine dedicated to matchmaking.
Food trucks will be set up in the entrance plaza on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays during the event period.

Satsuki No Sato Azalea Festival 

May 29 (Fri) – June 8 (Mon), 2026

On a hill overlooking the Sagami Bay, 5,000 satsuki or Japanese azaleas bloom during the Azalea Festival.
There is the “Friendship Bell” on the observatory, which is popular among couples for “bringing happiness”.
On Saturdays and Sundays during the Satsuki Festival, shuttle buses will be running, and stalls selling local citrus fruits will be set up.
