A Samurai parade by Kamakura warriors modeled after the flag-raising ceremony of Minamoto no Yoritomo and local hero Doi Sanehira. About 200 people, including Yoritomo’s chief retainers, parade through the town.
In the Ishibashiyama Battle, more than 300 warriors under Yoritomo set out from Doi’s mansion at that time to fight with the Heike’s large army. This event reenacts the departure of the local warriors, including Doi Sanehira and other warriors of the Kamakura clan, and the procession of warriors.
At Joganji Temple, the “Doi Festival” is also held to honor the achievements of the local hero “Dohi Sanehira.
